Hi all,
Is that a beige coloured CX broken down on the McDonalds 6:38 advert?
They are sending out the wrong type of subliminal message there don't you think.
Why not put a Rover or Vauxhall by the side of the road instead of the CX.

It's an advert on the telly.
Showing what people do in the morning at a certain time over the country, in this case 6:38am, some are getting a mcdonalds breakfast obviously, someone is riding their bike to work, someone is putting the bin out, and someone broke down in their CX on a dual carriageway!
No idea when it's on, but I seem to remember it being on during xtra factor.
Keep an eye out for it guys, the penny will drop for one of you sooner or later.
I will be well embarrassed if it's NOT a CX. I think it is, or it's a Rover SD1, but I'm sure it's a CX.

Is this the one? (at 23 seconds)

Looks like an 1980s Vauxhall Cavalier to me. The rear wheel arches are definitely not a CX.
However I could post pictures of my last Xantia burning to a shell on the hard shoulder of the A12...

Actually, saying that Jim, I went on holiday with a mate and his family to Cornwall 3 or 4 years ago. We got down to Newton Abbot and smoke started pouring out the bonnet of their 940 GLE Estate. Que a two hour long wait for a recovery lorry
Never took a real interest in cars back then but I might ask what did actually happen.

No it couldn't; they've mostly all been scrapped now. Gone the same way asBren wrote:I was just waiting for somebody to say it could be an SD1!
Alfa Suds, GS's, Cx's any Lancia or the even original mk3 Granada's - can't
remember seeing many of these in a long while (apart from the old Citroens
when the roads were chock full of them a while back. Easily thrown away and
now only in the hands of a small clutch of enthusiasts. I wouldn't offer an old
Gs to a film company for them to rip the p!ss out of either...
