Xsara plip battery change

Post by chelseaalan »

Hi,
Just a quicky,
I need to change the battery in the key fob for my 2002 xsara sx (3 button) and need to know the battery number and how to reset if needed.

Cheers
Alan

Vintage 2002 has either two CR2025 or CR2032 batteries.
The number is engraved on the old batteries.
Over the years, there have been CR2016, 2025 and 2032 batteries, all of them 3 Volts, but 2025 is slightly thicker than 2016, and 2032 thicker than 2025.

There is no resetting of any sort, it works straight away.

There is a reset procedure on these. From memory, you need to put the key in the ignition, turn it til the warning lights come on, then press and hold any one of the buttons on the remote for about 10 seconds. The remote should then work. As far as I know this procedure is only needed on the later multiplexed Xsaras.

Ouch ! Yes, you’re right, Nick.
I should have read properly … three-button remote, and 2002 is multiplexed.
My idea is for one-button without multiplex.
