More strange cambelt findings with Jenny...
As you can see the old one has a smaller backplate than the new one.

Re: Xac's adventures with Cassy (and friends + wife)
A productive afternoon, cam jockey replaced, aux belt auto tensioner fitted, water pump fitted (the old one didn't have the metal shield!) and new anti-freeze added, 19mm O-rings in the hydraulic pump replaced.
Tomorrow, if I can pop over to Jim's and borrow his sphere tool, I'll be fitting Cassy's old strut tops. Also need to pop to Maplins and get some grommets as I'm going to remove Jenny's headlights, drill two holes in the underside and do the relay mod internally.
Hopefully I'll get a chance on Monday to call the local dealer and order the dealer only bits I need.

Re: Xac's adventures with Cassy (and friends + wife)
Strut tops have been swapped over. Jenny's aren't too bad, but there's a fair bit of rubber missing and surface rust, whereas Cassy's are just losing the thin run of rubber around the edge in a few places.
I'm wondering if this early on in their deterioration using some rust arrest gel and silicon sealant would prevent it getting any worse?
When I did the N/S strut, I put my tray underneath to catch any errant LHM.
I heard a running liquid sound, more than the dribble of LHM the strut should make so I had a look under the car.
Gearbox oil was pouring out of the N/S drive shaft.
It looked old and dark, a bit like the LHM to be honest, so It looks like the drive shaft seals need replacing, along with the oil, and I'll do a hydroflush too.
Didn't manage to get to Maplins so didn't do anything with the headlamps this weekend.

Ahh, it's been a day of epic spills then Xac
See my blog for my tales of spilt fluids
Get some Waxoyl going around those strut tops, that'll arrest any further for now...
It's so easy to dislodge that driveshaft. We managed it when we did the ABS reluctor on Rattiva...

How easy is it to replace the seal?
