Probably a silly question, but how the hell do you remove the air filter box from a xantia like mine. Can't believe I'm having to ask such a basic question but here goes.............
I've loosened the jubilee clip at rear connecting to the flexy hose,
I've unscrewed and removed lid & filter element,
I've undone 3x 10mm bolts retaining black metal bracket underneath, but though its very loose I'm unable to remove the plastic air cleaner box 'cos it seems to be held underneath at the front by a plastic clip???
I don't want to tear it out using brute force!
Need to to get past this silly problem to check clutch cable/clip!
Any ideas?

Thanks RichardW, I'd just realised that its clipped into the intercooler hose & only needs a screwdriver in the correct place to release, but thanks anyway, and no thanks to the BOL!
I needed to get this out to check engine end of clutch cable(which is OK).
I then dived under the dash - what a horror for access!!!!!
I've decided to remove the drivers seat to improve access, but notice wires going up from the floor to under the seat(its an SX without heated/electric seats), so whats with the wiring?
Any ideas?

Thanks reblack68 -your're right- the wire goes to the under seat pre-tensioner.
I've replaced broken clutch cable clevis & metal clip and have adjusted the clutch cable to give 150mm of movement(as per the BOL) but although it's driveable the clutch pedal seems very high (as does the engagement point).
Does anyone have a view on reducing this movement to say 100mm?

Yes, I have found the same if you follow the "book". I adjust simply to get the bite point to where I like it.bumperman wrote: Does anyone have a view on reducing this movement to say 100mm?
