Recently I gave my white estate a really good polishing. It looks great now except for the fact I got polish on the black bumpers and side trims and the white of the dried polish really showed up badly and ruined an otherwise good job.

I tried a few things to remove the polish stains without much success. Today I found something that worked a treat: AutoGlym Bumper Care.

This stuff, known also as bumper snot on account of it's appearance

did a fine job and as a bonus, also cleaned up and imparted a fair old shine to the "chrome" trim strips on the bumpers and door trims.

Excellent stuff and well recommended

Is that product dark in colour? I managed to get polish residue on the side mirror shells and tailgate glass trim.

Was thinking about hitting it with boot polish.

Bumpers and side strips seem to not mark for me (G3, then Autoglym Radiant Wax).

scrub with detergent (plenty of) and water of course - pays to mask off before applying polish

Hi,
A cheaper way of cleaning off the polish from you black bumpers and trim is to use smooth peanut butter. It works a treat as the butter works as a type of abrasive on the polish.

PS DONT use coarse or crunchy peanut butter.

I'll give that a try next time. What's the problem with crunchy peanut butter then?

The only problem I can see is kids licking the bumpers after application

Try LIDL black shoe polish ( small tub with domed top) stays black for ages. john.
