It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Cracking on the rubber is not allways bad....
I do sell second hand strut tops from time to time, when we get some in we clean them up for inspection and if the rubber is cracked, we peel off as much as we can so that we can clean and inspect the metal underneath, if all looks ok then we give it a nice coat of black paint and sell them for £25.00 each.
we allways reccomend a paintbrush full of grease to wipe around when fitted, this will help to prevent further rusting.
Obviously it is a second hand part and a lot cheaper than new, personally I would not sell any that looked in the slightest bit dodgy as the consequenses are the busted bonnet and a lot of hassle.
If you need some then you can allways call or check ebay as this is where we sell surplus parts and second hand parts.
Sorry chaps but this is not meant to be a Pleiades add, just giving some info.
Regards
Martin

Mine have been liberally sprayed with underbody sealant, top and underneath. This stuff dries like rubber yet retains an oil based content.
I trust this is going to keep mine in good nick for a while yet.
An ex Citroen man i know states that you can tell when they are on their way out as you get a knockin / groaning sound when you go over speed bumps.
I hope he is right.....cos that way mine are still ok

Just recycling the thread...
I was at Autos and Sons near Bottisham Cambs, and they have a BX TZD which is almost complete (I could only see only 3 alloy wheels).
They also have a Xantia Mk2 1.8 SX and a few Mk1 Xantias (none in black).
Their prices are very reasonable. But it is the sort of place where you are expected to remove the parts yourself, so take your toolbox.
