Mmm, if its as good as it says it is, brilliant, only I have tried welding aluminium sumps in my days of doing diesel conversions and if you dont get the temperature just right it all turns into a puddle :cry: I could do it eventually but it took a lot of time and I got my arms sunburnt! :)

I think Citrojim can give you a better insight into this technology as we found someone doing demo's at the motor show last year and Jim engaged him in a Q&A session.

It works more or less like soldering and I was asked to test the strength of it - the "weld" was stronger than the original aluminium - but we were unable to establish if the ali had been weakened by the process.

i would think the alli will be fine as there aint enough heat to damage it, if what they say is right and you just need a blow tourch

I have been using good old plastic padding for decades.
It has 2 times saved me an engine block on my ancient BLMC Maxi's.

i have just repaired my FOPAR in my gear box caseing, with QUIKSTEEL, time will tell wether i have to drop the gear box out again,

i will put some picys of the damage i caused whilst fitting a new starter motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, silly me
