throttle problems on Xantia 1.9 TD 1998 Bosch pumped

Hi all need to tap into the database yet agian for more advice

The throttle is sticky when releasing the pedal and the revs will stick at about 1300 before very slowly dropping to 900.i have had a look at the housing on top of the pump and it appears to be the spring under the linkage that is not returning properly as the cable itself goes slack.

Is it possible to replace this particular spring by removing the linkage if so how straight forward is it or am i looking at something complicated and expensive

Do you have a damper (long black cylindrical thing) attached to the throttle arm and the pump body? If so try removing it. I removed mine many years ago as it is intended to slow down the closing of the throttle.

Check to see if the throttle cable is running smoothly around the engine bay and that there aren't any tight corners as it goes past the air filter box.

I had a throttle problem years ago on my 1.9 turbod and it was because the throttle cable route had been altered and a tight corner introduced. Once it was smoothed out with nice big corners it ran free. I also ran some 2 in 1 oil down the end of the cable sleeving.

Try oiling the linkage.

thanks to one and all problem is now solved
Removed said damper and oiled the cable and it drops back to idle like a dream
