peugot 406 misfiring problem

Post by mrpotter »

hi

i have peugot 406 glx 1999 2.0 petrol.
has been working perfectly until last week.
started to misfire when pressing the accelerator in low gears (intermittentley). when it gets up to 60mph it seems fine.

anyone had this problem b4?
im reluctant to take it to a peugot dealer yet, but also conecrned the longer i leave it, it may damage something.

please help

This must have the coilpack on top of the cylinderhead.
Unplug to check spark plugs are clean down the wells.
Clean the coilpack in engine cleaner and look for any cracks/burns.

cheers for that. ill see how that goes.

also the power button for the radio/cd has stopped working unless you whack it really hard (even then it only randomly switches on)

is that an electrical problem? loose wires?

@ radio problem :

Unclip and withdraw the radio unit and check the connectors at rear of the unit.
Its not really worth the hassle trying to dismantle the unit for repair, as a new standard unit is not expensive.
You can get all kinds of connection cables to suit any steering whel & radio make interconnections.
