C5 Automatic fault

I am getting two error codes on my 2004 C5 automatic AL4. P1800, Transmission clutch interlock safety switch circuit failure, what is the transmission clutch interlock safety switch, even the citroen importers don't know & P008C refer to handbook......
Any help or advice would be helpful

Is there any running fault with the gearbox ??

Yes, the LCD displays "automatic gear fault" and it goes into limp mode. Switching off the engine does not revert the gearbox to normal operation. It must be a HARD fault as it cannot be erased.
