Alternative ways of driving a Xantia.

Post by DickieG »

Yee Haa! It might be the camera angle but that Ferrari appears to lose an awful lot of ground to the Xantia

For something more serene, Ahh O:)

 Holy cow...!

Is that what's called being totally committed? I can still hear the tyres' pain!
Their squeal heard is probably the Xantia driving around the outside of the Ferrari... :D

Thanks for the interesting link Richard! ;)

I'm sure I could just about see the thread dragging the butterfly around
although not the gear lever! ;)

The car looks so smart I quite fancy buying one AND the earlier steering
wheel is far FAR nicer than later attempts too...

Taking another look at the first video it must be an Activa due to the lack of roll compared with the Ferrari.

Has to be an Activa as my car would be scraping its sill at the same speed :o

maybe the fella in the Activa earlier really should've seen this first:

This really is very scary viewing - I'm rather attached to my legs actually.

if anything its predecessor fares a lot better:

Its hard to tell in slow motion, but its highly unlikely the GS was being crashed at anywhere near the speed of an NCAP test. 1970s crash tests were relatively gentle by todays standards!

That's the spirit Gareth :D

You will want one even more when you have a drive of one!

Well things may change with my job and i wont be doing 30k a year, maybe then i could justify it especially if i could squeeze 38mpg out of it, wait and see as it would compliment the Maestro nicely.

Thanks for the links chaps, got me viewing more. Has anyone seen this XM Exclusive ? I thought the wheels looked sharp as do the exhausts but the towbar ruins it for me otherwise 8)

Sorry but that XM is awful. The wheels, the twin scoops on the bonnet, the bodykit...

Some people should stick to modding Saxos.

The Ferrari is nevertheless being driven like a hearse....!

You have to keep an open mind on things like that XM.

Its not overall to my personal taste, but i do like some of the things....the thin tail pipes for example are awesome for example :)
A maroon car will always be difficult to make look good in my opinion and the tow bar definately needs to go...as does the one on my Xantia

Don't be too hasty about that Vince :) A Towbar can be very useful and they're almost a standard item on any Xantia

If you have a Witter towbar, it is very easy to slip off the swanneck holding the ball and the bar itself is almost invisible then. They also look a lot better and a lot more discreet if you paint them the same colour as the car.

One thing though, some think they're great if someone runs into the back of you. This is true up to a point but on a Xantia, how the bar mounts to the underside of the boot floorpan may cause a lot of unseen damage if someone really gives it a good shunt :(
