activa aircon wont switch off!

Hi,
I have a strange problem with my aircon, in that regardless of wheter it is switched on or not, its on!
The only way to stop it, is to either have the interior fan switched off, or disconnect the pressure switch.
It still runs, even with the on/off switch disconnected!
Anyone any ideas?

On the Mk II, the air conditioning gets turned on when the airflow slider is set to demist the windscreen.

I have moved the slider, and lo and behold, the aircon goes off!!
You learn something new every day!
I only wish everything was such an easy fix!

The air-con should still be off if the switch on the dash is turned off and slider set to no fan, thats how mine works anyway. With the switch on but slider turned to off, the air-con is not activated but the moment its moved across or on auto, you can here it kick in and idle goes up.
