xsara picasso sx hdi 2001 fan with cowling

Hi,I have a Xsara Picasso sx hdi 2001, hit a hare and damaged radiator and fan and cowling,I contacted the breakers yard,have got radiator and fan complete in cowling,only thing is there is only one space for plug on the new one ,there is two on the old one.Everything else is the same,can I cut a space below and put the other plug from the old cowling and place it in the new one,the ticket on it say's picasso .Hope you can help.don'nt want to cause a bigger problem.Many thanks Derek.
