Hi all,
Could anybody give any suggestions on my w.406 est?
Ever since i have had it, the suspension has been very noisy going
over lumps and bumps and potholes, etc.
I tow a (large) caravan with the car, but it's the same whether towing or
not. I have changed all 4 tyres and still the same noises, so it's not that.
Car went through mot 2 weeks ago, with just handbrake ratchet needing
adjustment, so i know the suspension is not falling apart!
Used too driving super-smooth omega and the noise is really stating to do
head in now, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated please!
thanks.

Dry balljoints in the droplinks. They can make a very annoying groaning noise - not having even the slighest free play to be diagnosed during MOT.
Its the short rods with a ball link each end, connecting the lower suspension arm (or the suspension strut) to the anti-rollbar each side - on front.
Very common suspension part on almost any car. Cheap and easy to replace as DIY.
