May be my next citroen.
Was mooching around a nearby car auction and noted a C5 estate, 2.2hdi, I think it was an SX, but didn't look in the logbook, it is a 2001 51 plate. In met green, few scuffs on bumpers, and a dent on nsf wing(hardly noticable) front discs are nearly new and had a nice set of michelins all round. I don't know if the 2.2hdi is any good, have read about it being expensive to run. The miles are 101k and it has Tax and Mot for a few months. But the reserve is set at £1650, but the auction says they will submit any bid over £1300. I was thinking of offering £1450 to see what kind of reaction I get from the seller. All opinions welcomed. Oh, the interior is beige velour, and it looks like a small dog has been in the boot, but car didn't smell to doggy.
Xantia 2.0SX estate (now sold)
Xantia 1.9 TD SX hatch 102K (all old MOT'S) and working A/C.(Sold to forum member, time to save for a C5)

I've heard the early 2.2's had some problems but should have been sorted under warranty IIRC.
I would go for the £1400 offer. you only hve some time to lose really.
Most people will be put off due to the bigger engine size.
id go for it as the 2.2s are good to drive though i cant comment on reliability.

Talking to C5 owners, a lot have already had the clutch replaced well before 100k.
Yes, the 2.2 has a dual mass flywheel.
Yes, the 2.2 has a particulate filter. On Mark 1 cars only the 2.2 had it in the UK. The handbook gives the spec for a 2.0 110 with a filter. The fuel consumption is higher.

Currently driving a 2004 C5 VTR (old shape) and an Electric Kia Soul. Sorry but the electric one is my favourite!
Formerly Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6, 2 x Kia Optima, 2 x C5, Xsara and Saxo.

Possibly, but my well used (and loved) Xant HDi estate is still on it's original at 220k.... just changed the spheres for the second time.Mileage ripe for a new clutch? Just something to factor in and look for
in the service history or your budget!
