xsara 2.0hdi turbo help please!

I am absolutely reaching the end of my tether,this is the 3rd car in a year i have bought that has had serious problems and im all but out of cash after falling victim to unscrupulous dealers each time.

I bought it 6 weeks ago and noticed a serious lack of power up hills and the highest rpm is around 3800.As i've done with any car i've had i changed all the filters and oil at first opportunity.During this process i discoverered the car was lacking an air filter,so i cleared any debris that was there and put new one in.

When i had finished i fired up the engine and the warning light fuel/ignition systems warning light had come on,i went back over what i had done but found nothing wrong so booked a diagnostic with a local diesel specialist who has told me that the turbo is potentially siezed or it could be the catalytic converter is blocked.

What can i do,as i have very little spare cash after all these car problems,i work damned hard for not a great wage and all i have goes on keeping our heads above water and cannot afford to take it to a garage.Is it advisable to get a turbo from a scrappy and how easy are they to fit?

CAN ANYONE HELP AS I HAVE LOST ALL MY FAITH IN THE MOTOR TRADE AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL!!!!

so booked a diagnostic with a local diesel specialist who has told me that the turbo is potentially siezed or it could be the catalytic converter is blocked.

The obvious answer to this is to remove the section of exhaust behind the catalyst, get an assistant to push on the accelerator whilst you feel for the pressure out of the exhaust, then remove the catalyst repeat the test and compare the pressure. If the cat is blocked then you can legally replace it with a straight through pipe.

thats a simple one go back to the dealer armed with a very large sledge hammer and just say fix it or money back or i start breaking windows
never mind what they say about sold as seen or no waranty if the goods are not fit for purpose you have rights .
go get them

The lack of an airfilter is a bit worrying. What have the garage said about all these problems?
Has anyone here changed a turbo in situ on a Xsara? You should be able to pick up a turbo from a scrappy I'd have thought for a fairly cheap price. The only problem is that your going to be changing bits not knowing if they are going to cure the car.

Where did you buy the car from?
