205 Oil Pressure

Post by driversdomainuk »

Hi

I am getting low oil pressure warning under heavy braking. Have checked oil but appears ok. I use the car for competition use, and so is a slight concern.

The engine - a 200 bhp Mi16 engine on twin webers is almost new. Just wondering if there is something obvious. The car is a stripped out 205 gti

cheers

Do you still use the original engine sump pan ?

If so this must be modified internally with carefully designed and precisely engineered baffles, to avoid the engine oil is pressed out into one corner of the sump pan during driving.

A standard sump pan is not designed for longish animated driving in curves. The oil pump will starve and run dry.

Do a search on the various maxspeed and racing websites on the issue - and you will get loads of info returned.

PS : extend your investigations in any possible issues with a wrong dipstick indication ...
