xantia rear sinking 2000 model

Post by _kid_ »

ive seen a 2000 reg xantia 1.8 16valve for sale, however the there is a problem with the rear.

when sat at idle the rear is fine, however when the engine is stopped within a minute the rear sinks to the low position. what is causing this? the owner thinks its the anti sink sphere which he will change.

its an ok car apart from this but i wont consider buying without the rear staying up.
currently no citroens :-(

The rear anti-sink sphere is just another safety pressure storage for rear brakes function.
However it does seem that this sphere also influences on rearsink gross faults.
The sphere is cheap and quite easy to replace, and is no waste on a 8 yr old car.

We had a long discussion about this very topic a while ago. Have a look here.

It's a bit of a long 'un but worth a read.
