I'm hoping someone out there can help me with a problem! I recently purchased a Renault 25 (92/J) 2.0 TXi Executive. The car is in mint condition with the interior as new (and all electronics working!). The only issue is the automatic gearbox. When I bought it I knew that the auto box was not in the best shape as it jolted into gear when engaging "D". However, from experience, it looked like all it would need was a change of transmission fluid. Sadly, that didn't do the trick and the box has now started to slip in 1st and 2nd gears. I have tried a couple of garages but nobody wants to repair the box. The prices I have been quoted for a reconditioned box are way too high (1500 GBP), considering the age and value of the car. (I paid 280 GBP for it). I am trying to locate a secondhand R25 box, but so far without any success. I don't want to get rid of the car but its not really driveable and I'm not prepared to pay for a reconditioned box.
So .. please can someone out there let me know if they know of anyone who will rebuild the box for a reasonable price? Does anyone have any ideas how I can locate a secondhand box? Is it possible to use the box from another Renault model from the same era (e.g. Espace)? Alternatively, if anyone is interested in purchasing the car from me please let me know. I paid 280 GBP for it and I would accept taking a small hit in price. The interior and engine are in perfect condition, the main problem is the gearbox. The car has only done 55,000 miles and is located in Berkshire.
You can read more about the car on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=020. I really don't want to send this car to the crusher - it's far too good for that. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
