Any BX's and Visas left?

Any BX's and Visas left?
Never see any mention of them in here. Any left anywhere?
I had quite a few of them back in the 80's, early 90's, ranging from the 1.7 RD slug, right up to the 1.9 Gti.
Cracking cars, but changing those bloody dashboard lights in that 'pod' was a right old nightmare IIRC.
I remember the knuckle ripping experiences oh so well, and even giving up on one, leaving the pod loose to constantly wobble on top of the dashboard.
Remember the 4WD WRC version? I was so excited when I read about it in Motoring News.
Completed 2 rallies I think, then vanished forever. Whatever happened to it?
Had a 1985 Visa 1600 Gti too. Like a flamin' go kart! Another wonderful little motor, albeit a bit ugly.

One of my all-time favourites is the Mi16 engined BX GTi 16V "Valver". The carange that happened to them to create a Pug 205Mi16 is still too much to bear

Just went down memory lane, and checked to see what was available on Autotrader.
Just 3 nationally!
One of them is a one owner with just 40k on the clock!

Piccies please!
Really wish I'd kept mine now.
Such a nimble car, and was a rare sight amongst the swathes of the same engined 205 Gti that was so popular at the time.
Haven't seen one for 15 years now. Probably all gone.
Remember being given a 1.7 RD Visa as a courtesy car, and thinking how well that engine was suited to it. Absoliute flying machine for a diesel of those times.

That BX meteor for sale looks lovely.
I really didn't realise their was such a strong following still, let alone a seperate forum.
Can't actually recall seeing a BX on the road for many months now tbh, and as for a GSA.......

There's a Visa in my garage - one that came minus its tin roof 8) Unfotunately, as you can see from my sig, it needs the attention of my MIG. Lots of it Sadly I am too busy with landscaping gardens and fixing houses to fix cars at the moment. Maybe next year (when it will be 25 years old). And then again.....

Since joining the forum have wonderd what your sig was all about Richeard thanks for clarifying that without me having to ask, which I would have done sooner or later.
I had a Visa E for a few years and it was great. It developed a serious clatter then one day failed to start.
I do regret not fixing whatever it was - I suspect the bobweights in the distributor. Never even opened the bonnet though.
Bought something else - maybe the BX, and let it sit outside the house, under a tree so it was buried in leaves. One of the neighbours dobbed me in and I got fined for it being untaxed - I'd completely forgotten about it.
Had it towed back to the scrapyard I bought it from, still had to pay the fine of course

The Visa GTi is a great little car that really appeals. A bit of a Q car.C.J. wrote:Such a nimble car, and was a rare sight amongst the swathes of the same engined 205 Gti that was so popular at the time.

I believe there is someone on the BX Club who has one in tidy condition.

Ever get your own back, or would you like a family of rabid bats to shove in his loft?

Next to Fabia vRS, the most fun car I've ever owned tbh, and I've had many much to the wifes disgust.citrojim wrote:The Visa GTi is a great little car that really appeals. Turned me into a bit of hooligan on the road though iirc. Begged to be driven....'swiftly'
Dunno why, but I loved the constant whine from the fuel pump...I think?
Should never have sold it back in '87.
PX'd it for my first BX 1.7 non turbo slug.

It's not a GTi but an 'E' economy model. Not very exciting TBH and Steve's is on a knife edge as to whether it's going to live any more years - has had some serious front wheel arch rust repaired and the previous owner/nutter had painted all the plastic bits like bumpers and mirrors etc in minging paint so we're trying to return some of its looks too. Will send a pic when it's back together.

I bought a BXTZD Estate in 1991 and kept it in the family for 10 years and 110000 miles. I sold it on in 2001 to Bob Smith who is/was a member of this forum from Andyspares. Last I heard of him was two or three years ago when he still had the car running. Are you still around Bob?

I'm still driving a BX as my daily runner. And my wife has got her own BXbreak as her daily runner.
My eldest daughter and SIL are driving a BX van (break with no rear seats) as their daily runner, though they are planning to get a ZX, as they made me grandpa last summer ...
Besides I got 2 BX wrecks and 2 BX projects in my yard ...
BX'es are very much alive and still around
