Has anyone had any luck selling a car recently???

Post by pug_owner2002 »

Has anyone on here noticed how hard it is to sell a car recently?
I am positive that it has got something to do with the current economy and people not wanting to spend money!

I've had the other halfs astra for sale for one month now (on the autotrader for two weeks, signs in the widows etc) and only had one phone call.
It's at the point now that I might have to try selling the 306 to see if that gets any interest and keep the astra.

Wouldn't mind knowing if others are having the same problems selling at the moment.

I've only sold one car in ten years, Bought loads though

Most of the cars I've had these past 10 years just circulate around the family.

I'm surprised you're having trouble shifting an Astra as they (I believe) are popular, fairly economical and not expensive to run :?

The 306 should sell, especially if a Diesel, and for a good price too. They still seem to be sought after. Howver, don't sell it. They're smashing little cars and you'll end up missing it. The 306 (along with the 205 and 405) were the very last of the really good Pugs. Nothing since can touch it.

It's a buyers market at the moment, partucularly if you are after a big car. A near neighbour picked up a whopping big late Hyundai 4X4 with all the toys in very tidy nick for very silly money recently.

I've been trying to sell the ZX for about a month now - same story, nothing doing.

No point dropping the price any more. I might as well run it into the ground...

No way! I picked it up a few weeks ago for 400 euros with 85k on the clock.

Just need to do the front brakes and I'm back in comfy hydropneumatic land again.

I must have been mad to sell my last Xantia... I think I'll hang on to this one for a bit.

I sold my Xantia to a forum member, as I needed the money to get my Focus Estate Tddi on the road. Went in a week, I have now fixed the Focus, and will put it up dor sale as the engine is agricultural compared to a XUD, it drives OK, and is nippy. But not as smooth as a citroen. As I have a hankering for a C5 but find diesel prices getting silly I really fancy a C5 with an LPG conversion. I have found that at the moment it has to be economical and cheap to sell quickly.
Xantia 2.0SX estate (now sold)
Xantia 1.9 TD SX hatch 102K (all old MOT'S) and working A/C.(Sold to forum member, time to save for a C5)
2007 Berlingo Multispace 1.4i Forte, bought in November with genuine 27k miles, now on 39799 miles.

Well I'm still having no joy!
I've even emailed garages to find out if I could part exchange the Astra and the 306 in together against another car but had no replys so far.
Hope I sell one soon as running 3 cars between me and the other half is a killer! Insurance companys are as bad as the goverment for wanting your hard earned cash!

I think it depends on what it is. I'm beginning to cast an eye around for a replacement for the Xantia, not seriously as I reckon its still got some way to go, but big diesels do seem to be shifting at the moment, quite a few I though I might go and have a look at seem to have sold within a couple of days of being advertised before I even got there.

citrojim, I would add the Pug 406 Estate 2.1TD to your list. Great car.
