I have just bought a 2001 2.0l HDi picasso but only got the spare key with it and not the remote key fob.
Ive looked on ebay to buy one but as I never had one to compare, I dont know which one I need to buy. What key fob was specific to the 2001 model. Also is it easy to program to the car or will I have to go to a dealer. They have already quoted me around £110.00 for the new key including programming.
Cheers.

you need the early type remote (not the one with the padlock symbols on the buttons).
those instructions are just for coding the remote side of it but the remote also contains the transponder chip for the imobiliser which needs to be programed with the correct diagnostic tool, you will also need the 4 digit code that came with the car on a grey card, if you dont have the code it can be obtained by citroen for a fee ( around £15).
Also note that the keyblade & remote are seperate parts.
Do not buy a 2nd hand one off ebay as once coded to one car they cannot be recoded to another car.

Ooops.
Previously:
2009 Honda Civic :(
C5, C5, Xantia, BX, GS, Visa.
R4, R11TXE, R14, R30TX - x 4924
I don't know if this will be any help but I have just spotted this on anoether - ahem - Citroen forum.
Finally got a spare key for my C5 yesterday, cost £60 for key fob, £18
to obtain security barcode, and £16 to progrrame it to work with car.
All done by Eurocarcare in Derby - recommended.
Get yours done now before you lose your only key down a drain.
Also, did anyone see Alexi Sayle driving a C6 in his programme on
Liverpool yesterday? Is he a Citroen enthusiast? I know he likes
classic cars.
