I assume you are refering to the "universal" joints at the hub end of the drive shaft..? If so you will need to suport the vehicle...
1. remove road wheels.
2. drain gearbox oil.
3. remove the large centre hub nut.(you may wish to loosen while still on the ground with wheels as it can be very tight.)
4.Remove the lower ball joints on the lower suspension arm.( a ball joint splitter is worth having for this... if not available I have in the past supported the hub, and made careful use of a heavy item (hammer) on the lower arm... but be careful.)
5. with the lower arm loosened.... remove the gaiter to the coupling.
6. In order to remove the U/J joint.. you need to support the drive shaft, preventing it from coming away from the gearbox... I found that mole grips tightened on the shaft, and located behind the lower arm or cross member worked fine. Then while holding the shaft so.. if you strike the inner face of the u/j joint forcing it away from the gearbox... it shud release and come off the shaft.

i don't see why you would have to remove the c.v. joint to remove a gearbox ! do you mean the gearchange linkages ? i'm not too sure what there like on the BX but if they are the same as a xantia then i use a spanner thats just wider than the ball part, hook it under & lever the spanner.

Im also guessing this is the gear linkage joints.
You *should* get these off 'staright up' ie not by rolling them off (which tends to happen when using a spanner). Basically you run the risk of damaging the plastic cup inside the joint. I guess it could be done with a screw driver to pop the joints off. But i use the spanner method, your trying to prise them off, not smack em <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
