I have to laugh at these "cam chains". When I had all the previous Rover engines, the cam chains and timing chains were Duplex Reynolds. You could have lifted the engine out with them. Saw a little modern Polo 3cyl diesel getting stripped in garage other day. Lending a hand I had a look at the chain.......it's nowt more than a necklace  Stretched and jumped of the pulleys with the resulting damage.

German engineering? The pulleys are stamped and Made in China by a separate company. It reinforces what a mate told me years ago about big German companies. They cannot afford to make stuff in their own country.

The cam chain on the Nissan Pixo (Suzuki Alto) 3-pot is a Morse chain Lexi..

Not sure what it is on the C1....

That rings a bell Jim.......Morse. So that is the Anglo/American chain company. It was the emblazoned Made in China that caught the eye. Of course, that has nothing to do with quality as it is a Morse factory and the Chinese can build to any spec.......if you pay the money. To open factory in China now you must give percentage of ownership to Govt. The Made in China stamps are a part of that deal I think.

Maybe we will get a new incarnation of Deep Purple and a new live album " Made in China! :-D

The chains are still no more than little steel belts that stretch prematurely I think. Oil changes help.

Sorry for the absence thse past few days, been a bit busy on many fronts... Nothing very interesting, just constant busy..

Slightly less so now...

We got the 407 done on Saturday.. . Despite the bloody awful weather... Lying under a wing fitting a water pump and cambelt in the rain with water dropping off the wing into your ear is no joke

Anyway, the new pump fixed the problem and now she's lovely and cool 8-)

I must say a cambelt job on a 138HDi is easy. Very straightforward; the hardest job by far is getting the top cam cover on and off..

All of mine are good... Not had a moment to think about any V6 work on the Activa... I soon hope to...

My new passport arrived on Monday, barely two weeks from application, including a query. Not bad at all... The Passport Office seem to have got their act together now :-D

So, all set for the Team WFA French Adventure :-D

I'm off to catch-up on what's been happening around this burg... It may take some time... A week away from the FCF is a long time

Is the passport good for Yorkshire Jim?

My daughter is in Holland for a month working with a disaster relief agency. Her passport had expired and hers was renewed in five days.

Better than the six weeks one generally expects.

Nope, specifically excluded Steve :-D I need to apply for a new Visa in time for Wetherby...

I reckon mine would have been back in a week if I hadn't messed up my signature and kept it entirely in the box...

If they let me have a visa for entry into Yorkshire and it doesn't clash with any Karate grading then yes, I certainly will be Mark :)

I really quite fancy a campervan based on a Visa Malcolm

I wonder if Mr. Harker has one of those?
