Replacement brake hoses.
I've spent the morning replacing brake hoses on our Pug 306. Three of them have gone well, but the last front one is proving difficult. The pipe union to flexible hose is about to lose its flats and round off. This is in spite of using a pipe union spanner. Has anyone got a bright idea for its removal?

Yes, I know this problem well John. The problem is the union gets full of rubbish and it corrodes to the pipe and sticks fast. If a good soak in Plus Gas and a good wire brushing won't release it, then it's out with the roll of Kunifer and the flaring kit to make up a new pipe.
I find replacement Kunifer pipes seize their unions much more badly than the OE steel pipe. Kunifer is a lot softer and will twist before the union frees itself off.

Thanks for that Jim. As I expected, the last hose union wouldn't undo and it rounded off. Ended up having to take an angle grinder to the pipe union to get the hose of the mounting bracket. I don't have a flaring kit so off I went to the local accessory shop. He made me up a similar length of pipe with two unions on it for less than 5 quid! Anyway job done with a change of brake fluid. Now it's ready for MOT on Monday.
