Xantia 1.9TD Aux Belt Auto Tensioner

The spring that is attached to the tensioner roller arm has come away. I think the bolt that hold it together may have snapped. the aux belt is still at tension as the spring is still pushing against the roller arm just.I replaced all of this about a year ago why would it snap off like this have I done a bad job or could this be a Friday afternoon part.
