VSS on 306 (Vehicle speed sensor)

Post by rayc »

I have just bought a 306 1,9 td (P reg) for a friend. I need to sort the a/c out as it's not working.

The concerning part for me is that I have found the vss wrapped around a water pipe and not plugged into the gearbox.

Couple of questions.

1) can anyone tell me where this locates as I cant find the access point.
2) what is the function of the vss as the speedo is working fine! :?

Cheers all

are you sure its not the engine speed sensor rather than the vehicle speed sensor ? the speedo would not work if it was the vss.
Does your car have a rev counter ? does it work ?

Hi,
The rev counter works. I assume it's a vss as the cable is thick black with approx 1.5" snsor on the end . It looks as though it could be the vss but as the speedo etc work I wasn't sure of it's function. Timing maybe?
