xantia door lock buttons

Post by kellyo »

The OE little plastic clip which secures the doorylock button to the actuating rod has to be one of the flimsiest items I've come across. :( I bought a couple of 2nd hand ones & thet were also cactused - the tab part at the bottom breaks off all too easily meaning it loses it spring loading & the whole button comes out. Did Citroen remedy this problem or am i condemned to driving it without buttons?

you have tyo be very carefull when releasing these, it is best to use a small screw driver and dont press in to hard, but try to gently press and slide it in a downward direction,

on re/fitting make sure the dimple is in the lower hole, now with a screw driver flick the lock mechanisum on the end of the door into the fully locked position, then press the lock rod down and slide the button over the rod, into the slots behind it, now press it down hard,

now lift the button up to the unlocked position and pull the door handle to release the catch mechanisum

Believe it or not, this is the one design aspect on a Xantia and Xm that
really does hack me off; it' such a poor unnecessary design and whilst
removal is easy, fitting is damned frustrating, but FINALLY, I've now
got the procedure for refitting it worked out.

Have the door closed and sitting inside the car press the metal rod for
the lock mechanism fully down and slide the lock button down onto it
after carefully sliding the spring loaded release plug into the lower cut
out position of the main lock button.
