BX too soft on bumps

Post by wonderd »

New spheres, no leaks, car goas back up quickly when i put on weight.
When standing with engine on, i can press the back all the way down fairly easily.

I would suggest either you have the wrong spheres or the hydraulic pressure is low.

If the hidraulic pressure is too low, won't i feel it on the steering wheel?

Yes, you probably would, but I can't think of any possible reason other than incorrect spheres. Does it go right down to the bump stops?

What makes you think there is a problem ?

Unless its a BX 16v or 19GTI which have stiffer than usual suspension, theres nothing unusual about being able to press the rear suspension right down by hand on a hydraulic Cit - I can easily do so on my VSX Xantia, and could with my trusty old GS from years ago too.

Is there something wrong with the ride or handling ?

A little more background maybe ? How long have you had the car and is this the first time you've put a new set of spheres on it ? Have you had or driven other similar model BX'es before to have some frame of reference ?

Simon

Yes it goas all the way down to the bump stops and that's the problem.
Actually it's not my car but a friend's.
It's not the first time i change spheres, i had 2 bxs before and never had that problem. I don't think it should go all the way down to the bump stops then i press the back with my hands or when i go over road bumps.
At the first couple months since i changed the spheres there was no problem, then i had a leak from one of the return lines and the problem started. After i fixed that leak the problem stopped for a month and now returned.

I will ask my friend but i don't think there is any stiffness from the steering wheel.
