XM flat battery

I've been offered an XM foc, the problem is that the doors only open on the remote (the key has the end broken off it) and the battery has gone flat, as the car has been standing for a couple of months. Any suggestions as to how to get either into the car to open the bonnet or open the bonnet to try jumping the battery so we can activate the key remote. I can't even get a second key cut as all the documents are locked in the car so I only have the reg no, not the VIN.

Is the name of the original supplying dealer on the number plate or a sticker in the window, they might help with the VIN.
Citroen UK might also help.
AA, RAC and the like will probably have a way of getting in without causing damage.

Any main dealer may be able to access the information (vin No.Etc)from their computer,on the basis of your cars registration number

Hi Beemernut,
The bonnet is locked by two catches, one in front of either end of the radiator. They can be accessed through the front grill. If it's a series 1 car the grill centre section can be easily removed - a screw at either side and then you will be able to shift the catches from underneath. There's a rod system that connects the two. It may also be possible to move them with a long screwdriver or rod without removing the grill. I was able to do this when one of mine seized a couple of years ago.
The problem you may have in this case is, by moving the catches in this way, you will also have to drag the release cable which may cause the release handle to hit the bottom of the passenger door and stop further movement. If you can get the grill out then no problem, it's fairly easy to disconnect the cable from the catch mechanism.

what about drilling the lock barrel out or forcing it with a screwdriver,i guess you'd be replacing it anyway if the key is broken in it.
