Synergie roof bars!!.

Unread post by thatfatbloke »

I seem to be missing something here. I bought a pair of second hand roof bars that had been on an 806 - and was told that they would fit directly into the channel on the roof. No chance. There is nothing to fit them to. I took the problem to the local Peugeot dealer who sold me a kit for £70. I assumed this would comprise of a replacement 'channel' that would accept the bars - wrong - it is only a copy of what I already have - the two long metal channels with the two long front and two short rear parts. I will obviously take the kit back for a refund - even though the invoice says special orders are non refundable (they have supplied the wrong part after I had described what I needed). It appears to me that all that is needed are four 'feet' that will slide into the existing channel and the bars would bolt into the feet which the dealer seems to think would have been supplied with the bars when new and are no longer available. If I get no joy I might have to contact a local engineering company to make up some feet for me.
Has anyone come across this problem - and how did you overcome it please.

Hiya mate,

Any chance of a photo of the end of one of your bars? Some of them are bolted into tapped blind holes that hide behind the top door rubbers. :?

You are missing the small alloy plate that slides into the channel which your two bolts screw into and clamp the whole assembly tight. I assume that these were not provided when you bought the bars.
Try Wilmoths in Polegate, they are usually quite helpful, if a little expensive ( Citroen Dealers !!! )

I can mail a photo when the rain stops if you would like.

Thanks gammy leg. It was Wilmoths that told me that these parts were no longer available as they came with the original bars. It was Motor Haven near you that sold me the £70 kit that is the wrong thing completely. I was under the impression that I was going to get a different 'channel' to replace the one that is on there that would accept the bars. Confusion all round!!. I shall go back there tomorrow afternoon and ask for money back as they ordered the kit after I explained to them what I wanted. A picture would be nice when you can get round to it. Many thanks.
