xanita HDI 90 and Veggi oil

Hi guys, just a quickie,
can I use veggie oil in my xantia mkII hdi 90?
some people say yes, some say no!!!
I have used it for many years in my old 1.9td, but this is a diferent set up. Bosch injector and stuff...

There's absolutely no way I would put veg oil in an HDi. It will potentially do a lot of very expensive damage.

It won't even start if you do.

It has sensors which say wrong fuel, cut the engine off.

Well I don't know about the others, but the 2 litre versions certainly don't, they just run until you've destroyed the fuel pump & injectors.

Weird, my friends 2.0 110 peugeot Hdi refused to start until the fuel was emptied.

Guess his was a smarter model.

Most likely is that the incorrect viscosity of the fuel meant that either the tank lift pump or the high pressure pump couldn't build up enough pressure to trigger the pressure sensor.
You can't rely on this always being the case though - HDi engines can and will run on incorrect fuel long enough for them to do themselves damage.
They don't have a fuel quality sensor as such, just sensors for fuel temperature and pressure.
