AX question

Unread post by Spud »

Good evening to you Citroen owners.
As pay day and MOT day looms, it is now time to sort out the AX.
It has just had a wheel bearing done, the exhaust is being fixed tomorrow.
Leaving the suspension parts to do. Because of the bouncy front end, along with the clunking noises, I have decided to replace the coils springs, shocks and the strut bearings.

My question is, are the parts shown on the Euro Car Parts page, the top strut mount and the top strut bearing the same item? If not, should both parts be replaced?

Hope it's not too daft a question.....

All the best

I expect the mount is a rubber moulding and the bearing is probably a ball bearing. Examination of the strut mount/top in the car may show something.

Of course you could take it all to bits and then see what is needed. Bearing may be OK but probably has suffered over the years - and may become noisy when it wears. Again the rubber may suffer - de-lamination - or just go hard.

partly depends how long you intend to keep the car.

It isn't that they are unpopular, more that the majority of forum members are dyed in the wool hydropneumatic fanboys (yes, me too) and there are relatively few AX owners.

A warm welcome anyway. Image
