Effect of acetone on exterior paint
There are, what I suspect as being, nail varnish "dabs" on the paintwork of this car that I'd like to remove if possible. Acetone is known as a good solvent but will it adversely affect the underlaying paintwork? Using a fingernail (excuse the pun) I can chip away the majority of each dab but it does leave some residue behind. It wouldn't bother me too much except this is a metallic red car and the nail polish is metal flake blue.

Try white spirits on it or petrol....this does not effect the paint work.
I use white spirits to remove any tar spots on my car....you have to let it soak in for a little while then the tar just dissolves
