Hi all,
I have made a big boo boo!!!
I was drinlling a hole throught the bulkhead, measured distances to make sure i was clear of anything and wham i hit some wires (temp sensor and central locking now not working!!!).
Sooo, I now have to remove the dash because I can get my fingers to the point where the wiring is but thats all.
My car is a Xantia MkII 2.0HDI Sx, and want to know is the dash is much different to remove as the MkI Xantia dashboard?
I know about the airbag safety bit.
Also, I see that the wiring is mainly brown or orange so is it numbered or marked differently? (I hope it is)

I haven't but I imagine it's much the same under the top layer.
Lots of sketches and digital photos will help you reassemble and you'd be as well to stick a heater matrix in while you're in there.
Where did you drill the hole? You might get away with just removing the glovebox or the instrument panel.
One thing I can tell you is the secret of removing the glovebox. As well as the visible screws there are screws under the felt inside the glovebox. You should be able to feel them if you try. If it won't come out easily you've missed a screw.

Job Done!!!!!
It took me about 8 hours to remove the dash. repair the wiring and put the dash back in and working.
Not a very hard job really, just a tube of savlon on my scraped knuckles. Took advantage of cleaning all the plastic parts that came off the dash and console you know, the part that has dust filled joints and the seat mouldings between the centre console and seat.
A job worth doing, even just once in a lifetime

Did you replace the matrix while you were in there?
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right
