Xantia hydractive spheres

Post by AV »

I have a 95 1.9td vsx, the hydractive suspension, doesn't seem to make any noticable difference when selected. There are also quite a number of spheres all over the car, which ones are which, and which ones need changing most regularly?

I'm not aquainted with the VSX,but I think the spheres are similar in all Xantias that is two spheres in the engine compartment, and one in the lower front centre, again in the engine compartment. Two in the rear inside each rear wheel, and one in the rear centre. All spheres need renewing every two to three years,or they can be refilled on the car by some Citroen specialist's who have the proper equipment.I am told that if you purchase a new sphere, and leave it on the shelf for two to three years that it will then need to be refilled,in other words mileage seems not to matter.Time is the problem rather than mileage covered. If you hear a hissing noise from the car when you raise the suspension this is an indication of need to have a renewal, or service, apart from a rough ride which may not be that noticable as it tends to grow on one,if you are mainly on smooth roads..
