DS Safari

Post by hardmanm »

Hi all,
i've just been offered a 1972 2.2 semi-automatic DS Safari, for £1000. It runs well, the interior is in mint condition, but the outside needs respraying and the tailgate has rusted. Also the clutch slips. This is the biggest worry as I remember the DS having a solenoid-operated but otherwise conventional clutch which is difficult to change. Oh yes and the back spheres are shot though I'm not particularly worried about that.
Has anyone any experience / advice? I know DS's normally fall outside the remit of this group!
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
These are possibly a bit more common in Oz than in the UK.
Check out this website & the guy who owns it is very knowledgeable on Ds and has access to a lot of resources. Sus it out & then drop Shane a line & you'll find he'll tell you (in no uncertain terms) exactly how bad the problems or potential jobs might be, give you a few clues on how to do them & possibly refer you to other sites for more info if required.
Nice wagon and at that price if it's redeemable, should be a top investment.

P.S. Here's some shots of a car that was sold here last year; one of the members of aussiefrogs bought it and believe me when I say he paid well over the 1000 pounds you're talking.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
