Anyone seriously considering buying a C5 should check out this Website first http://www.c5-faults.com/. And when you read the comments from other owners responding to the site you will realise that this is not an isolated case and it is going to cause a major headache for Citroen....read on

I know there are several cases of knocking suspension. I test drove a car without the latest modification on saturday. The car had 7,000 miles.
Apparantly the cars made from 2002 onwards have been almost perfect.
I'd buy a C5.
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/c5-l/ is the best source of information.

I’ve never been very tempted by the C5 – I think the body styling is an absolute disaster, and I literally couldn’t live with the tacky-silver-plastic dashboard – but fair’s fair, I suspect that you’ll find somebody with a similar story about every car on the road. And every dealer too.
I once had a new Rover with a huge list of delivery faults, including five out of eight bolts missing from one part of the front bulkhead - but when they were fixed it turned out to be one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Pity about the dealer!
Another time, my brand-new Ford Escort had a hole literally punched through the front spoiler by a lady who reversed her towing ball through it, and my local Ford main dealer thought it would be an adequate repair if it just bodged up the hole with a bit of gauze and filler. And this was on a two-month-old car.....
Finally, how could I ever forget another Rover that would make amusing farting noises at night from the petrol filler cap, especially when I took it abroad to sunnier climes. (Very popular on French camp sites.) An incurable fault, apparently.
In this case with the C5, I think the important part of the story was that this chap was offered a second car by his Citroen dealer, and then a complete change of make and model when he still wasn’t satisfied. That’s a lot better than some dealers I’ve heard of.

I know what you mean about the styling and the dashboard, but the car drives nicely.
I currently drive a Xsara, which has very fake looking aluminium look trim, which also reflects in some sunlight.
I'd also only consider buying a year old C5 on a finance scheme so you can give it back after 2 or 3 years.
