How do you change a Xsara Lightbulb

Post by rory_perrett »

Ok slightly silly question time – how do you change a facelift Xsara front side light bulb? Seen the earlier comments about removing the bumper so you can get the headlight unit off – surely not. I can get hold of the bulb holder after removing the rubber cover at the back of the headlight unit but don’t seem to be able to shift it. Is it a push fit or a twist/unscrew job – really don’t want to break anything by forcing it.

Cheers

Rory

Apparently they just pull out, but can be very tight. So far I've only had to change the dipped beam on mine, which wasn't too bad, but I hear the sidelights can be tricky.

they do just pull out. once you get it out put a smear of grease round the O ring on the bulb holder so it comes out really easy the next time.

Awww - there's a shame!! Buy a Xantia?

I was looking forward to a comical answer to this classic joke question
when I opened this thread!!

The truth may in fact be to park the back end on ramps and remove
the rear bumper to gain access to the front sidelight knowing Citroen
...or the BOL!

How many Citroenists does it take to change a Xsara light bulb?

About 4 so far if this thread is anything to go by.

Anyway, thanks for the replies, I reckon I will be able to get a small pair of mole grips onto the holder and give it a tug.
