Hello
Have removed gearbox from Synergie, 2.0 HDi. (Year 2000).
I can find no identification marks on it, where the marks should be. Have been told that this is an ML5T gearbox, but have also been told that this is wrong, (by a local car dismantlers).
Is there a difference between the ML5T and an ML5, see http://www.peugeotlogic.com/workshop/ws ... code1d.htm
More confusing, this site says it is an ME5K, http://peugeot.mainspot.net/eng_uk.shtml
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

a 2.0HDi can be fitted with either a BE3 if it's the 90bhp variant or the ML5T if it's the 110bhp model. This may be what is condfusing your breaker..
For easy identification, the BE3 has a rod operated gearchange whereas the ML5 has a cable operated gearchange.
Pop up a picture if you can, for a positive ID. Also, if you post the exact engine designator or VIN number, pr.net will identify positively the gearbox.

The gearbox had two problems.
The main problem was that it would often, (90% of time), not go into second. If you used a very strong jolt then it might engage. Otherwise it just slipped out again. I tried to engage second gear at the gearbox itself yet it still would not stay in gear. The times that it did engage second gear worked perfectly--and once engaged it did not slip out.
The lesser problem was that in reverse things did not sound very healthy.
Thanks again. The forum is very very helpful.
