Faulty Low brake fluid warning - 406

Post by djheath »

Hello,

1999 1.8 406.

Every so often I get a "Low Brake Fluid" warning showing on the display on my 406. I don't have low fluid though - the brake fluid is full to the brim.

I have cleaned the contacts on the switch but it still occurs every so often. Would the warning occur for any other reason, say fluid is old, other braking problems etc?

If not, then is there anyway to fix it? The switch looks integral to the master cylinder reservoir so I don't think its an easy fix.

Thanks for the help.

better late than never, i have read that the handbrake switch is the offending item for the low fluid level when you apply the h/brake.
