Silly (read: neurotic!) Xantia Sunroof Question!!

Post by andmcit »

Does anyone know for certain that the sunroof tray/mechanism/assembly
(the whole kit and caboodle) on a Xantia saloon will be the one and the same
item found on an estate!?

I've made assumptions on such things in the past and seen Citroen's devious
design engineers do a great job of messing with my head!!

And No, I don't have access to Citroen Service whatsit as I have the temerity
to run an AppleMac and I'm very happy with where I am and I'm going
NOOOOWHERE near a PC!

I said I was neurotic! ;)

There's only one listed on citroen.service....

The sliding flap underneath of course is different depending on the roof trim

If you do change one make sure you seal it well the roof when refitting - some earlier Xantias had poor sealing of the sun roof from the factory and leaked water in - my Parents' 93 LX being a prime example!

Thanks Richard. Worth checking before I self inflict a big hole in the roof
that's difficult to repair!!

if its like the BX the head linning is the chssis for the sun roof/mechanisum, other than that i dont think there would be ny differance with the mechanisum its self,
regards sealing this is probbly down to the usual blocked drain holes in the corners of the raid guly, as the (seal) felt around the glass is not ment to be water tight, it is just a draft felt
regards malcolm

ps.
reading your last post are you going to attempt fitting a factory lecy sun roof to a car which did not have one when it left the factory,

the prob i can see with this is unless you have the means and tooling to roll the edge of the orafiss it wont work, as you will have the wrong type of edge to the roof metalwork

Nothing as drastic as that Malcolm, I've got several sunroof tray/panels with
motor etc working fine that have been removed off a saloon and I've just
picked up the first one to replace a jammed one on an estate and then got
cold feet that it'd be different!

I've got one off an estate but didn't check in the dark last night when I was
rummaging through them...

He actually had a really nice working sunroof until I'd driven the car for about 5 miles.

Sorry.
