Bleeding help (405TD fuel system)

Post by 1900sr »

I guess I'm being really thick here, but I need to bleed the fuel system on my 94 405 1.9TD. It's got the Bosch pump and according to Mr Haynes the bleed screw is either in the injection pump inlet pipe union bolt, or on the fuel filter head. I've also checked the book for the Xantia TD and that says it's on the pump as with the Pug. Well I can't find it on either car! Can anyone give me directions to find it that an idiot could understand?

There isnt a bleed screw on the Bosch pump set up only the Lucas has one and thats what the Haynes assumes you will have!

So the bleeding process is fairly simple after a filter change, prime the filter housing until full, refit the lid, i undo the water drain screw and pump the black bulb until there is pressure felt, i then crank the engine until it starts and watch the clear pipe for air bubbles, at the same time pressing the priming bulb, the bubbles soon go after you have driven it a while. Hope this help.s
