My offside door mirror (electric, heated, matched colour) has been ripped off the car. I have sourced a replacement but do not know what the replacement procedure is. I vaven't been able to search a solution on or off the forum so far.
Do I need to remove the inner door panel? If so how? If not where do i start?
The good but surprising news is that it was less that £50 as the last manual one I got for a small Renault was £87 some years ago.

The door panel needs to come off and then its just some screws, the wiring is a bit of a fiddle but its straight forward.

Door panel is not hard,
it's all torx screws.
You need to take off the plastic surrond around the door handle, it has a tiny retaining screw underneath.
Then you'll see the first screw. The next 2 are through the holes in the bottom of the arm rest, need quite a long tx bit to get them.
Finally need to remove the 4(I think 4 anyway) which are around the speaker, no need to undo the speaker itself though.
Pull the card off gently, prying the plastic clips away, remember to disconnect the speaker before you yank it to far.
The rest for the mirror is now obvious, wiring is a squeeze though as already mentioned.
Easy job really, maybe 15-20 mins.

This is not going well.
I have removed the external mirror, the door card and the connector box for the wires which is located behind the window buttons. However I cannot extract the cable running into the car. It seems to be a remarkably tight fit unless it is anchored somewhere within the door skin. If it is just a tight fit I do not see how I can run the new cable into the car. Only the holes on the inner and outer skin are accessible and there appears to be no chance of getting the attached connectors to pass through.
Hints?

ello. I've just done this same job t'other day. At first I noticed that the electrical cable was not pulling out from the outside. I also couldn't see in clearly through the inner hole. I found that removing the rubber grommet on the inside and with a decent lamp you can see the cable inside. I found that the cable is anchored on approximately 1 1/2 inch forward of the inner hole but I managed to work it free from the inside as though it was either clipped or glued on. then it literally just lifts out from the outside.
Getting the two (or more) block connectors back through is just a case of one after the other and then reaching in with a finger to encourage the cannectors thru the inner hole. I pulled them well clear before fitting a few mounting screws. It's probably best to connect them as soon as they're through.
Mind and test the action of the mirror before reassembling all the rest!
Be careful refitting the door lock button! I have royally rocked mine and it doesn't stay on now...

..... and I've stuffed the door lock button. Not sure exactly what I've done but it won't lock now. Rather than taking the near side apart to compare can anyone tell me if it is likely to be what I've done to the button or a distortion in the wire connector to the mechanical lock. I'm not very keen on experimenting and producing a bendy wire animal toy.

every time i do it i cant push the lock down and now i try and keep it all together

I kept it all together - I just pried the card off the door. I've just been out in the snow looking t it but can't see what I should do.

has the button been sat on the rod correctly if it goes to one side of it the rod is pulled/pushed against the door card .does it work with the button off??
with button on will it push down at all ? if not then likely its not sat in the button correctly
take button off and try central locking (from inside ) you can see what the rod is doing then

Hmm, I still hven't fixed the inner lock nob/button. On mine, the rod is in the right place, it is centralised and it is operating correctly. The problem is that the plastic top will not go back on the rod! I can't tell if it is broken in some way but I'm pressing the little visible tab that releases the grip on the rod to move it down on the rod. It does go down but soon works its way off. It's also quite hard to get it on without activating the central locking.
I might try to get a new one
