A flat accumulator will cause the system to cycle rapidly. (5-10 seconds)

To test the accumulator get the car to normal height and let it idle for a couple of minutes. Turn off the engine and sit in the boot. The car should sink a long way then after about 30 seconds rise to its original height powered by the accumulator.

To see what should happen do the same thing with the engine running - no difference - sphere OK - no response or feeble with the engine off - flat sphere.

New spheres are about £20 from GSF and their rivals. Full instructions for changing will be found on this site.

Remember to make sure the car is properly supported with room for you with the suspension down before working on it - the do KILL.

Answer,

Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick ..............

The faster the tick, the worse condition of the accumulator.
