gearbox swap

Does anyone know if a year 2000 synergie gearbox, (2.0 HDi), can be replaced with a gearbox from another citroen vehicle, (e.g. xantia).

I'm guessing that the Synergy is the 110BHP model, if so it will probably have the MLT5 gearbox that is fitted with a hydraulic clutch and cable link. This gearbox is fitted to the majority of the 110BHP 2.0L HDI's (not the 90BHP engine) encompassing the Xantia, Xsara, C5, 406 etc.

The are loads of these gearboxes about and I'm sure that a Citroen breakers will be happy to confirm your gearbox requirements.

Thank you for reply. This is good news as i think the selector has gone on second gear. Most times it simply will not go into second gear. All the other gears are perfect. Thanks again.

What condition are the cables in? - Some people have had trouble with them - may be worth a search.
