Blown Turbo?

Post by CitroJim »

I'd be grateful if you'd give me your thoughts on this issue. It's not a Citroen but it is a 1.9TD in a Pug with an unfortunate taste for drinking its own oil :(

Thanks. I'm particularly interested to know if in-situ replacement is possible :?

Does sound as though the turbos faulty. Either somethings got into the turbo or the blades are rubbing on the housing.

A secondhand one from the scrap yard and a recon kit would be my way of dealing with it.

hi Jim I have definately done a 405 turbo with no probs in situ..

support and take RH engine mounting off, will allow engine to be pulled forwards, helps no end..

it was some years ago, I suspect I removed inlet manifold then exhaust manifold / turbo ..

be slightly careful, some auto cars have turbos slighty nearer to header pipe as there are no gear control rods ... right pain if you dont know ;)

although only I could buy a turbo from an auto, they are not exactly common ;)
