Citroen C6, how low before you buy?

Post by Quackers »

Just noticed that high milage C6's are slowly coming down in price, seen one for £15,000 thats done close to 60,000 miles.

What price would they need to drop to second hand for you to buy one?

Its my ultimate car, but they will have to drop a lot more before i buy one, never spent more than £1200 on a car  on that was on a V reg Activa with 60,000 on the clock.

The decent milage ones, ie those around 10,000 - 20,000 seem to be more round the £20-25K

I'm just wondering what the service cost of the C6 is at 60,000 miles after just spending £15,000 on the car.

Got to drive the 2.2 HDI Exclusive Manual round a race track last year which was fun, but i think i would go for the twin turbo 2.7 HDI Exclusive Auto, as the 2.2 felt under powered for such a big car.

I can dream..... :(

I paid £8500 for my C5 estate and it had done about 42000 miles. If I didn't need an estate, then maybe £12000 is what I would pay for that miles. I would love one, but not sure whats going to be different from the new C5. Apart from the headsup display and rear seats

With all the potential problems with HDI's, like disintegrating flywheels, clutch and injection system failure failure at relativly low mileages, costing £ lots to repair, I think I will stick with my XM which I am confident will be good for at least 300k without serious problems and I can repair ir myself, and I can afford to repair it....or maybe something else made before 2000.

I think id wait for them to come down to around £5 when i could afford the 2.2 to be chipped and converted to veg even twin tanking it and then reap the beneifts as i just love the C6, it feels so solid inside and robust, more so than my xantia i may add but running costs i wouldnt like, id have to see how the autos faired and if as usual with citroen they dont last id go for a manual and replace the flywheel with the clutch :)

I'll not be getting one for a long time.

Besides, I've found the perfect combination: A 2.1TD Break for general everyday workhorsing and dad's taxi work and an Activa for fun and pleasure. I intend to retain that winning pair for as long as I can :D

Yesterday I took my girls for a weekend Guide Camp. They had enough luggage to see them OK for a month :o The Break just swallowed it in one gulp with room to spare

Now perhaps if there was a C6 Activa and/or a C6 Break with Hydractive 4+ available, I just may change my mind...

They do look stunning though :P
