I wish I had the time & space to do a lot more myself than I have done.
With your help, I have:
1. Replaced pads all round
2. Started running on Veg oil & changed the fuel filter.
3. Now buying in the 20l boxes in Makro & doing the cyphon thing from the box on the roof of the car while I get on with other stuff.
4. Changed the headlamp bulb by removing the CPU box to get access (as with all things, easy when you know how).
5. Gained an insight into the suspension (not fixed quite yet).
6. Disconnected something I can't remember the name of but stops something else gunking up with unburned SVO.
A lot of this I learned many years ago but either forgot or lost confidence or both.
First thing I did when I got my first car was take a night class in car maintenance. Invaluable then & now. That was a 1977 Mk 2 Ford Escort 1.3 Pop Plus in 1986. Man that was such a dawdle compared to anything since. An engine the size of a portable telly in an engine bay the size of France! I'm overwhelmed when I open the bonnet on anything else even though the principles are much the same.
Here's hoping 2008 is a quiet one for the old girl.
