New member with Xantia 2.1 TD

Unread post by Sphinx »

Hello all, I was recommended this forum by a friend who is mad on Citroens, the same person that put me onto my new car in-fact.

I've got a 1997 Xantia 2.1 TD SX and all is going well so far apart from 1 annoying thing; the drivers seat bolster is worn and I need another seat.
As you will probably know, it's the suede interior and it's proving a bit tricky to find one in a breakers yard. I'll put a post up in the for sale section about that, but for now, some pictures:

Any comments or help with the seat issue welcome :)

Same thing happened to my 2.1TD estate.
Was tempted to chop up the center headrest and patch the hole.
Citrojim now has the car.
He suggested dying a chamis and patching it with that.

The relevant material 'Alcantara' was used quite widely in Italian car's a few years ago so I'd imagine it must be relatively easy to get an Upholsterer to repair the seat if that's easier.

The problem with looking for second hand seat's in the same material is they will all be suffering from the same problem, personally I'd look out for an interior from a VSX (better shape to the seat) or an earlier SX as those seats wear very well.

Yep, as the new owner of Xac's 2.1, that is exactly what I inted to do. Or perhaps the interior from a dead Activa.

The only upside is that mine are bad and therefore I worry not about what the kids might do to them. There is an upside to everything

The velour-like material used in early SXs and lesser Activas is practically impossible to wear or damage. My kids have tried hard :P
